My submission for the Hopper Prize was selected and featured on their Instagram feed here.
This work, Global Media Conglomerate (2017), is from a new, ongoing series of digital drawings about how data science and data visualization are changing the way we are understanding our world and are contributing to the aesthetics of contemporary mainstream visual culture. 100% digital, these works are not beholden to IRL formats or mediums (a fact which also confounds an art object driven market and is a part of the big conversation around these artworks). Further, they are not illustrative, nor are they related to graphic design. They are infact entirely painterly and gestural in the way they were created such that, although made with technology, they have a decidedly analog quality.
