Virtual Studio Visit with Paradice Palase

Jennifer Mawby (she/her) works across drawing, painting, sculpture, and time-based media from her studio in Vancouver, Canada. Her character-driven story worlds draw from personal history, ancient civilizations, and science fiction. In recent work, Mawby’s larger-than-life oil pastel drawings and sculptures envelop female grief within the intimate gestures and landscapes of human relationships, contextualizing community-building as an essential and alternative mode of world-building. Using the creation of personal origin myths, she explores how different forms of lineage can serve as an extension of self through time. Mawby received her MFA with honours jointly from OCA and UCA (UK) and in 2023 completed the International Curatorial Program with NODE Center, Berlin (DE). Jennifer is the director and a co-founder of Vantage Art Projects and her artwork has been exhibited and published in Canada, the U.S., Australia, and the UK.
